Ethiopian Yirgacheffe
Considered one of the finest washed coffees in Ethiopia, this coffee has a sweet, citrus acidity and is highly aromatic with floral notes.
It has been said that coffee originated in Ethiopia – a landlocked country located on the Horn of Africa - where it was discovered by Kaldi the goatherd. One morning, he was surprised to find his wayward goats dancing with abandon after they had apparently nibbled throughout the night on the juicy red berries of a native shrub. Kaldi sampled the berries and he, too, started to dance. As the story goes, a passing monk observed this wild behavior and his natural curiosity ultimately led him to dry the berries and boil them. As he drank the resulting brew, his energy was renewed. He shared the new beverage with his fellow monks and soon the use of coffee spread from the monastery to the whole of Ethiopia.
