The Café Femenino Coffee Project is a social program run by and for women coffee producers in rural communities around the world. More than 1,500 women in six countries are active in the project that helps women achieve empowerment, build social and support networks, and earn incomes through the production and sale of the Café Femenino Coffee.
The success of the Project led to the creation of The Café Femenino Foundation, which provides grants to selected programs and projects that enhance the lives of women and their families in coffee growing communities around the world. cafefemenino.com
This coffee comes from the Barahona region of the Dominican Republic, which is located on the southwest side of the island near the border with Haiti. Grown and harvested by the women of COOPPAPROCOSEMUP cooperative, this Cafe Femenino coffee is noted for its sweet caramel aroma.

In 2010, Café Femenino Foundation awarded the women of this coop an grant to purchase livestock to alleviate malnutrition. The women invested in 40 calves and promised to donate any offspring of the calves to other women in need.
